Film Titles Decided

I posted a post earlier saying that I wasn't sure what I was going to call my film. I have now decided that I am going to call it Going South. Also, in Pinnacle Studio, which I am using to edit, I cannot find a way to insert fonts from external sources. So I have found a font within Pinnacle which is the closest to the style of font that I was aiming for, and I have used that. This is it :-

I will probably use a bright colour, to make it stand out and to contrast to the dark situation that the main characters are in.

Names

I have come up with 3 names, which I got of a website showing mafia slang etc.

Omertá:- The code of silence and one of the premier vows taken when being sworn into the Family. Violation is punishable by death.

Going south:- Stealing, passing money under the table.

Chased:- To be banished from the Mafia and barred from associating or doing business with any made members. The punishment is merciful in that the offender is spared death.

I plan to use Going South, because I think it sounds the best out of the ones which I could choose.

Evaluation Time

This is the evaluation for my Media studies project. I made it in Powerpoint and then posted it onto Slideshare to make the best of current technologies:-

I recently edited my evaluation, to add more about the conventions shown and how it attracts its audience. The new link is above, in place of the old one.

Final Film Opening!

So, here it finally is. I finished editing and this is the first draft of my film opening I completed for my coursework project. Most of it is based on my storyboards, but I have made a few changes to make the film shorter, make it easier to film and make it better to view. I plan to add a internet sourced siren sound and all the actors shown are my friends. It doesnt have any titles or music yet, because I havent decided on them yet. They will both be added in a later draft:-

This is the second draft of my film. Changes that I have made are adding a soundtrack and titles to the film. However, I am unsure that my soundtrack is really suitable for the video, because I think that it may make it look more like a music video than a film opening. I will get people to look over my video and tell me if they agree with my thoughts:-

I have looked over the 2nd draft of my final video, and asked others to view it. One thing alot of people said was that the attention was drawn from the video and onto the music that I used. This made me wonder if too much attention was taken from the video and onto the music. Because of this, I went onto royalty free music sites and found music tracks which I can use for my film rather than real songs. By doing this I hope to try to make my film better for the viewer, and less like a music video.

This is the third draft of my film. As you can see, I have added a new soundtrack, but I have kept the titles the same. As you saw above, after asking people if they thought I should change my soundtrack, all but two people agreed that I should, so that is what I have done. I may add another draft, with a full new scene in it, but that is undecided as of yet.

Advanced Storyboards

These are photos of several more detailed storyboards that I made. They are posted in order of the films happenings. They helped me get a more detailed look at what will happen in my film. And yes, my drawing is terrible. Here they are : -

Update

I haven't posted in quite a while, and I thought that I would leave an update as to what I am planning to do. I am planning to film the whole of my project on Saturday, and then edit it on Sunday, solving any problems on Monday. After that I will be able to concentrate 100% on my evaluation.

Font Results

I got all the results back in for my fonts. I asked a total of 50 people to choose which font would be best at the end of my film, and told them that the film would be a mobster style thriller, similar to the likes of Rockanrolla and Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels. Although I don't actually know my film title yet, I put the 3 font titles in the font on a page. Here are the results :-

Dinarjev Republika :- 6 Votes

Hang Up :- 6 Votes

Russian :- 4 Votes

Killed DJ :- 10 Votes

Punks Not Dead :- 19 Votes

Bedspread Assassin :- 5 Votes

So, I am most likely going to use Punks not Dead, although this poll isn't going to conclude my decision over fonts. I may use Hang up or Killed DJ, but I haven't decided yet.
